John Innes Centre awarded £78,000,000 for new research
The John Innes Centre in Norwich has been awarded nearly £78m from the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) strategic programme investment fund, strengthening Norfolk’s position at the forefront of plant and food science.
Four new research programmes will be funded over the next five years, which could be very useful for tackling agricultural and environmental challenges both nationally and globally in the future. These include:
- A plant health programme
- A molecules from nature programme
- A designing future wheat programme
- A genes in the environment programme
The potential impact of the new programmes could be significant and wide-ranging.
